Italian writer talks about hardships in Japan during WWII
Italian author Dacia Maraini gives an interview in Pescasseroli, Italy, on April 3, 2015, recalling hardships she experienced as a child at a concentration camp near Nagoya, central Japan, during World War II, after Italy's surrender to the Allied forces in 1943. She spent her early childhood in Japan while her father Fosco Maraini, a renowned ethnologist, was conducting his research. The family was confined to the camp due to the parents' antifascist views.
