Houses built on mountainside in Takamatsu, western Japan
Architect Keita Nagata stands on April 21, 2015, in front of multiple-family dwellings built on the mountainside in Takamatsu, Kagawa Prefecture, western Japan. They were designed by the 39-year-old architect to make them look like as if constructed by hollowing out the mountainside horizontally. In reality, these houses were built by shaving off part of the mountainside and covering them with dirt and planting grass and trees on them. (Kyodo)
