47.8% oppose, 39.5% back Osaka metropolis plan: Kyodo poll
Osaka Mayor Toru Hashimoto, who also serves as top adviser to the second-largest opposition party in parliament, the Japan Innovation Party, appeals for support for a plan to turn the city administration into a metropolitan government similar to Tokyo's, during a rally in Osaka on May 10, 2015, ahead of the May 17 referendum on the issue. According to a Kyodo News poll, 47.8 percent of voters in Osaka oppose the plan. (Kyodo)
