Samurai procession at Nikko Toshogu shrine re-creates 1617 parade
About 1,200 people clad in traditional samurai clothing approach Nikko Toshogu shrine on May 18, 2015, dedicated to feudal leader Tokugawa Ieyasu in a reenactment of the arrival of Ieyasu's remains in Nikko, northeast of Tokyo, in 1617 from Kunozan, today's Shizuoka city, central Japan. The Shinto shrine was built by Ieyasu, the founder of the Tokugawa shogunate that ruled Japan from 1603 to 1867. (Kyodo)
