Chum salmon fry release at peak in Hokkaido river
Chum salmon fry form a school in the Nishibetsu River in the town of Shibecha, Hokkaido, on May 21, 2015, after being released. About 3.2 million chum salmon fry, which are five centimeters in length, were released in the river during the day. Only 3 to 5 percent of them are expected to come back to the river in 3 to 6 years.
