Volcano evacuees fear landslides as rainy season starts in southern Japan
The ash-covered Kuchinoerabu Island, some 1,000 kilometers southwest of Tokyo, has traces of pyroclastic flow from the eruption of Mt. Shindake there on May 29, 2015, as seen from a Kyodo News helicopter. With the start of the rainy season, evacuated residents are worried that landslides could cause secondary damage to their homes and properties. (Kyodo)
