Scorpion-shaped robot to inspect inside of Fukushima reactor
The International Research Institute for Nuclear Decommissioning and Toshiba Corp. unveil to the press in Yokohama, near Tokyo, on June 30, 2015, a scorpion-shaped robot they have developed for inspection inside the No. 2 reactor containment vessel of the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant. The robot is slated to be placed inside the vessel in August to check the existence of obstacles to removing fuel debris, damage incurred to the vessel, and temperatures and radiation levels. (Kyodo)
