Pre-war era Japanese tennis player's suicide note found

This is a photo of Jiro Sato who committed suicide by jumping off a ship in the Strait of Malacca in April 1934 while en route to a Davis Cup match. In his suicide note, which was recently found at the Japan Tennis Association, Sato -- once the third-ranked player in the world -- said that he could not play tennis anymore and that he wanted to apologize to the country for taking his own life.
