Osaka University team generates hydrogen using waste silicon
An Osaka University research team demonstrates the generation of hydrogen (bubbles in the left bottle of this file photo) by mixing alkaline water and powdered silicon fragments, a waste produced in the process of solar panel production. The team said it has recently succeeded in generating a large amount of hydrogen for the energy source of fuel cells by using the technique. (Kyodo)
