Housewife to resume memorial service for sunken ships in Hokkaido
Sumiko Mikami, a housewife and survivor of the 1945 sinking of three Japanese refugee transport ships by Soviet submarines near Japan's northernmost main island of Hokkaido a week after the end of World War II, says at a cenotaph for some 1,700 victims in Obira, northeastern Hokkaido, on July 16, 2015, that she will resume a memorial service after a hiatus of five years.
