People draw floats in town on Shiretoko Peninsula, northern Japan
Some 1,300 people join a parade of floats with giant paper lanterns on July 24, 2015, on a street in Shari on the Shiretoko Peninsula jutting into the Sea of Okhotsk off Japan's northernmost main island of Hokkaido. The Shiretoko Shari Neputa festival took place amid a festive mood, celebrating the 10th anniversary of the peninsula's designation as a UNESCO World Heritage site. (Kyodo)
