A-bomb survivor urges gov't to expand designated blast zone for aid

Daisuke Kamito, a survivor of the 1945 U.S. atomic bombing of Nagasaki, shows his official pocketbook showing him being an "A-bombing experiencer" in the southwestern Japanese city on July 7, 2015. He is deputy head of a group of people who are not authorized by the government as A-bomb victims because they were exposed to radiation outside an officially designated blast zone. Kamito criticized the government's unfair discrimination against survivors like himself and called for the expansion of the designated zone so they can receive the same financial aid for medical treatment as certified victims or "hibakusha."
