Nagasaki man recounts burn injuries on back caused by A-bombing
Sumiteru Taniguchi, 86, recalls his battle for life in hospital for three and a half years during treatment for burn injuries on his back following the 1945 atomic bombing of Nagasaki during an interview in the southwestern Japanese city on June 23, 2015. His ordeal caught global attention after a photo of radiation-caused burns all over his back, taken by the U.S. military, was distributed by the press throughout the world in 1970. (Kyodo)
