"Blue-eyed doll" from U.S. seen in Shiga Prefecture
A "blue-eyed doll" from the United States discovered at an elementary school in Koka, Shiga Prefecture, western Japan, about 40 years ago is seen on Aug. 7, 2015. It is one of some 12,000 dolls sent to Japan from the United States in the 1920s to promote goodwill and peace between the two countries. (Kyodo)
