1944 photo of brothers of Korean descent prior to 'kamikaze' enrolment
A handwritten note as seen on Aug. 11, 2015, on the back of a December 1944 photo of Cho Oi Sok, 23, and his younger brother Oi Dok, 21, both residents in Japan of Korean descent, reads "younger brother to enlist in air corps" and "trip around Kyushu," showing that the picture was taken during the brothers' last time traveling together just before the younger one enrolled as a "kamikaze" suicide pilot during World War II. Oi Sok was strongly opposed to his brother's decision, but Oi Dok insisted on doing so as he believed if he died for Japan, his family and other Korean residents in the country would get more respect and better treatment.
