Time-honored Irani cafes disappearing in Mumbai
A 31-year-old researcher at Oxford University on Iranian immigrants in India, picks one of many jars of biscuits and other snacks at an Irani cafe in Mumbai on July 28, 2015. Originally opened mainly in the 19th century by Zoroastrian Iranian immigrants who fled the persecution of the Islamic dynasty, these Persian-style teahouses flourished into popular local eateries but are now disappearing due to city redevelopment and a lack of successors.
