Japan's security bills clear upper house panel
Defense Minister Gen Nakatani (rear) watches House of Councillors lawmakers casting ballots during a plenary session early Sept. 18, 2015, after a censure motion against him was submitted. Japan's ruling camp passed security bills through an upper house panel on Sept. 17 despite strong protests, and the opposition bloc proposed the censure motion to delay the final voting at the plenary session. It was eventually rejected. (Kyodo)
