Temporary storage site for radioactive waste to be returned to landowner
Private property used as a temporary storage site for removed soil and radioactive waste generated during decontamination work following the 2011 disaster at the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant is seen on Sept. 23, 2015, in Minamisoma's Baba district in Fukushima Prefecture. The city plans to return the land to its owner with the lease contract expiring next spring. The state has been having a hard time finding sites to build interim facilities to store radioactive waste generated from decontamination work for 30 years. (Kyodo)
