Int'l confab of scientists begins in Nagasaki to seek nuke abolition
Pugwash Conference on Science and World Affairs participants visit the Nagasaki Peace Park, a memorial to the tens of thousands killed by the atomic bombing of the Japanese city by the United States in August 1945, before the start of a five-day meeting. About 190 scientists and nuclear experts from some 40 countries are gathering for the conference to push for the abolition of nuclear weapons and other weapons of mass destruction. (Kyodo)
