Architect Kengo Kuma speaks to reporters in Tokyo on Dec. 22, 2015 after his design was adopted for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics main stadium. Collaboration between a joint venture led by construction giant Taisei Corp. and Kuma's team received the green light for their "Plan A" blueprint, which cites a total construction cost of 149.0 billion yen, compared with 265.1 billion yen entailed for a plan by Iraqi-British architect Zaha Hadid, which was dropped after initially being adopted.
