Sea animal performances ahead of New Year
A sea lion at Hakkeijima Sea Paradise in Yokohama, near Tokyo, demonstrates calligraphy and draws the Chinese word for saru -- meaning monkey -- with a brush held in its mouth, with the correct stroke order, during a special show on Dec. 29, 2015 ahead of the New Year. Year 2016 falls on the year of monkey in the Oriental zodiac. Calligraphy is traditionally performed at New Year in Japan. (Kyodo)
