People pray for prosperity by sticking coins on tuna
A child visiting Nishinomiya Shrine, known as the head shrine of the Ebisu deity of economic fortune, in the western Japan city of Nishinomiya, attaches a coin onto a large tuna on Jan. 8, 2016. A fishery cooperative in nearby Kobe began offering a tuna to the shrine in 1970 at New Year to pray for a bumper catch and every year visitors place coins on it in hope of gaining more money in the coming year.
