Combating Zika virus with guppy fish in India
Photo taken Feb. 13, 2016, in Mysuru, India, shows Somashekar Gowda (front), who has been breeding and distributing guppies (poecilia reticulata) for free in mosquito-prone areas. The freshwater fish feeds on mosquito larvae and thereby keeps the breeding of mosquitoes in check to a large extent amid a global alert over the mosquito-borne Zika virus. (Kyodo)
