Fukushima judges inspect Namie town affected by nuclear disaster
Fukushima District Court judges and others in protective gear walk through the town of Namie in Fukushima Prefecture, where residents are still not allowed to return to their houses following the 2011 nuclear disaster triggered by a major earthquake and tsunami, on March 17, 2016. They inspected the town in connection with a lawsuit against the state and Tokyo Electric Power Co. About 4,000 people filed the suit demanding that the state and TEPCO, operator of the crippled nuclear plant, restore their town to its original state through decontamination work and pay damages.
