Rescue workers search for survivors in quake-hit southwestern Japan
Rescue workers and a rescue dog search for survivors in the village of Minamiaso, Kumamoto Prefecture, southwestern Japan, on April 17, 2016, in the wake of a massive landslide caused by a magnitude-7.3 quake that struck the region the day before. Rescue efforts have continued amid aftershocks and the escalating risk of landslides due to rainfall overnight, with widespread damage in the region which began with an M6.5 temblor that rocked the area on April 14.
