Year's 1st catch of whale landed at Hakodate port
A Baird's beaked whale, 10 meters long and weighing 10 tons, is lowered by crane into a truck after being landed at a port in the northern Japan city of Hakodate before dawn on June 8, 2016. It was the first catch of the year after commercial whaling of the species, which is not covered by regulations under the International Whaling Commission, opened May 25 in waters off the Sea of Japan coast.
