Construction of U.S. helipads resumes in Okinawa amid protests

A protestor is taken down by riot police from the top of a car parked in the village of Higashi in Okinawa Prefecture on July 22, 2016. Around 100 local residents and protestors rallied against the construction of helipads for the U.S. military by staging sit-ins and parking their cars to block the entry of construction workers. Despite the protests, the Japanese government resumed the construction the same day. (Kyodo) ==Kyodo
