New humanoid robot "Alter" exhibited at Tokyo museum

A humanoid robot called "Alter," jointly created by Osaka University and the University of Tokyo, is unveiled at the National Museum of Emerging Science and Innovation in Tokyo on July 29, 2016. While Alter's face and hands are covered with silicon, developers have left the mechanical components of the rest of the body exposed in an attempt to let people see its complex finger and hand movements and feel the robot as lifelike, rather than feeling so from its appearance. Alter will be exhibited at the museum through Aug. 6. (Kyodo) ==Kyodo
