2 Cabinet ministers visit Yasukuni
Tamayo Marukawa, minister in charge of the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics, visits the war-linked Yasukuni Shrine in Tokyo on Aug. 15, 2016, the 71st anniversary of Japan's surrender in World War II. Sanae Takaichi, internal affairs minister, also visited the shrine while Prime Minister Shinzo Abe sent a ritual offering, in a move that is likely to draw criticism from Asian neighbors that suffered Japanese wartime aggression.
