Hell festival held in Hokkaido hot spring city of Noboribetsu

A 6-meter-tall float shaped like Enma (the King of Hell) proceeds through a street in the hot spring city of Noboribetsu, Hokkaido, on Aug. 27, 2016, during the annual Noboribetsu Jigoku Matsuri (Hell Festival). The festival is held annually based on an old legend saying that once every year, the lid to the Jigokudani (Hell Valley) cauldron opens, and Enma, followed by a horde of red and blue demons, appears in Noboribetsu.
