1st Japanese-built F-35 stealth jet unveiled

A brand new F-35 stealth jet fighter, the first for which Japanese companies were involved in parts production and assembly, is unveiled at Mitsubishi Heavy Industries' Komaki Minami Plant in Toyoyama, Nagoya Prefecture in central Japan, on June 5, 2017. Two such Japanese-built F-35s, which will be the Air Self-Defense Force's next-generation mainstay fighter succeeding the F-4, are expected to be delivered to the Defense Ministry before the fiscal year ending March 2018.
