            On April 21, Moss Food Service disclosed to the press an experiment to introduce a "slow cash register" using Orihime (photo), an alter ego robot from ORIY Laboratory (Minato-ku, Tokyo), at the Moss Burger Osaki store (Shinagawa-ku) from April 27. People with disabilities, those raising children, and others who have difficulty going out of the house will be able to place their orders while being served by Orihime. Payment is made at a manned cash register, but the company plans to expand the service to include everything from ordering to payment. Orihime, a 23-centimeter-long robot, will be installed in front of the cash register. The order is transferred to the store via the Internet and the order is completed.                   Foxter Corporation (Toyonaka City, Osaka Prefecture) will release in May a hybrid image processing system that combines Preferred Networks' (PFN, Chiyoda Ward, Tokyo) artificial intelligence (AI) visual inspection and conventional image processing methods.The company will market the system in Japan and China in cooperation with a subsidiary of the OPTEX Group, which is engaged in the manufacture of lighting for image processing, in terms of sales and service. The sales target is 200 units a year. Auto parts manufacturers and others have already begun to introduce the system on a trial basis.                     Fujitsu Advanced Engineering's system for sorting bulk goods

                    FUJITSU ADVANCED ENGINEERING LIMITED (Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo) has developed a system that allows users to remotely control picking robots as if they were playing a game, and to sort bulk goods that are difficult to recognize automatically. The robot's field of vision is displayed on a tablet terminal, and when the user clicks on an item, the robot picks it up and picks it. The company aims to commercialize the system in fiscal 2021. The operator clicks on products on a tablet or other device according to instructions. Then, robots in distribution warehouses and factories aim at the click point and suck the suction cup. The system is expected to be used not only by telecommuters but also for light work during hospitalization and cognitive training for the elderly.                       The connected sensors acquire analog data such as temperature, pressure, water level and flow rate as well as vibration. The data is sent via wireless LAN to an antenna several dozen meters away. The data is collected in the "Machine Dossier" cloud system. The data is displayed in an easy-to-understand manner using graphs and other data. Amazon's Amazon Web Services (AWS) is used as the system infrastructure. The data can be easily viewed on smartphones and other devices. The annual fee for using the system is 48,000 yen (excluding consumption tax) for each eight-point sensor. SEC of America (North Carolina), a wholly owned subsidiary in the U.S., develops and produces the system. Shinkawa Sensor Technology (Chiyoda Ward, Tokyo), a subsidiary in Japan, will develop and produce higher-specification non-contact vibration sensors.
