                      Ride-sharing services begin in Tokyo

                      TOKYO, Japan, April 8 Kyodo - Ride-sharing services begin in Tokyo on a limited basis on April 8, 2024, with transport minister Tetsuo Saito (L) and digital minister Taro Kono (R) attending a ribbon-cutting ceremony to mark the launch of Japan's first such service. The app-based services are managed by taxi companies with drivers allowed to operate only when there is a taxi shortage in an area. (Kyodo)
