Temporary homecoming of Japanese women from North Korea
File photo taken in September 2000 shows Japanese women who moved to North Korea with their ethnic Korean husbands under a repatriation program from 1959 through 1984 attending a press conference at Narita airport near Tokyo as they return home temporarily. A total of about 93,000 people moved from Japan to North Korea during the 25 years of the program. (Kyodo)
