Kumiodori traditional performing art in Japan's Okinawa

A Kumiodori performance is conducted in Urasoe, Okinawa Prefecture, on May 15, 2019, at an opening ceremony for a series of events celebrating the 300th anniversary of the first performance of the traditional performing art in Okinawa. Kumiodori, a combination of lyrics, music and dance, was created by Tamagusuku Chokun, a dance magistrate of the Ryukyu Kingdom, in the early 18th century to entertain Chinese envoys sent by the Chinese Emperor.
