Abductee Megumi Yokota's mother meets press after husband's death
Sakie Yokota, whose daughter Megumi was abducted by North Korea in 1977 at age 13, holds a press conference in Tokyo on June 9, 2020, a day after the funeral of her husband Shigeru Yokota. Shigeru Yokota died on June 5 at age 87, without ever being reunited with his daughter, a symbolic figure in the issue of North Korea's abductions of Japanese nationals in the 1970s and 1980s. Sitting beside Sakie Yokota are Megumi's younger twin brothers Takuya (L) and Tetsuya (R). (Kyodo)
