New school term starts in Japan

Students participate in a school term opening ceremony via a videoconference system in their classroom at a junior high school in Ogaki in Gifu Prefecture, western Japan, on Aug. 17, 2020. A new school term started the same day following summer holidays that were shorter than usual to allow students to catch up with schoolwork they missed during closures caused by the new coronavirus outbreak.
