Japan lawmaker rearrested over casino graft scandal
A vehicle carrying Japanese lower house lawmaker Tsukasa Akimoto enters the Tokyo Detention House on Aug. 20, 2020, after he was served a fresh warrant for allegedly offering to pay money to witnesses in reward for falsely testifying in court in connection with a bribery scandal. Akimoto has already been indicted for receiving cash and other gifts from the Chinese firm 500.com in 2017 and 2018 while he was playing a major role in spearheading Japan's move to legalize casino resorts.
