Suga declares virus state of emergency in 7 additional prefectures
Japanese Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga (2nd drom R) declares a state of emergency in seven additional prefectures, including Osaka and Aichi, at a meeting of the government's anti-coronavirus task force in Tokyo on Jan. 13, 2021, amid a spike in virus cases. It follows a state of emergency being imposed for the second time in the Tokyo metropolitan area on Jan. 8.
