black rhinoceros or hook-lipped rhinoceros (Diceros bicornis)
The Dvur Kralove Zoo is preparing the transfer of five rare black rhinoceros from European zoos, including its three own ones, to Rwanda, its director Premysl Rabas told reporters, adding that this will be the biggest ever transfer of rhinos to Africa. Apart from three rhinos from Dvur Kralove, the transfer, scheduled for late May or early June 2019, will involve one from Britain's Flamingo Land zoo and one from the Danish Ree Park Safari zoo. The group consists of three females and two males. All the selected rhinos belong to the eastern subspecies of which only some 900 last specimens survive in the wild.
