Southwestern Japan islands set to become World Heritage site

Photo taken in Kunigami in Okinawa Prefecture on May 11, 2021, shows an area of forest named Yambaru in the northern part of Japan's Okinawa Island. A UNESCO advisory panel recommended the previous day that a chain of islands in southwestern Japan with dense subtropical forests, including the northern part of Okinawa Island, be added to the list of natural World Heritage sites.
