Extinction Rebellion movement protest in front of Transport Ministry

Activists from the Extinction Rebellion movement dressed like a stewardess and a pilot today, on Monday, August 24, 2020, suspended a dummy airplane and a banner against the planned extension of the Prague international airport from a balcony of the Transport Ministry to which they climbed from the street. Other activists were throwing paper airplanes and playing airplane landing sounds in the ministry bulding. The police arrived at the ministry because the protest event of some 30 activists was not officially announced. The activists have called on the ministry to issue a negative stance on the extension of Vaclav Havel Airport Prague. Last year, the airport handled 17.8 million passengers, which is the record high number. The planned extension of the second air terminal is to be completed in 2028. (CTK Photo/Ondrej Deml)
