Nagoya Castle

Taira Castle is located in Nakaku, Nagoya city. It was the residence of the Owari Tokugawa family. The castle tower can be seen from the outside of the moat. The castle tower was built by the Sakuji Bugyo (construction prefect) Kobori Enshu in 1612, and was destroyed by fire during the war in 1945. The present castle was restored in 1959. It is a five-story building from the outside, with one stone storage story, 5 stories above the stone walls, and a tower in the shoki soto (layered tower) style.==Date:unknown, Place:Nagoya, Photo:Kusakabe Kinbei, (Credit:Nagasaki University Library/Kyodo News Images) [Cabinet Number3‐45‐0]
