Dainichi-do Temple,Nikko

The Dainichido which enshrines the Dainichi nyorai on the banks of Oya River was lost in the flood of 1902. The photo shows the Dainichido painted red and its garden before it was lost. Near the lake is a monument inscribed with a haiku by poem by Basho. This monument was also lost but was restored in 1909.==Date:Before 35th year of Meiji, Place:Nikko, Photo:Ogawa Kazumasa, (Credit:Nagasaki University Library/Kyodo News Images) [Cabinet Number9‐17‐0]
