NIKKO KANAYA HOTEL

NIKKO KANAYA HOTEL

The Kanaya Hotel of Nikko was moved to the hills of Hatsuishi in 1893. Kanaya Zenichiro bought and redecorated the Mikado Hotel which was still under construction in 1892. The trees which have just been planted stand around the hotel. At both ends of the photo stand men in Western clothes. In the centre stands a man and woman dressed in kimono, and a bellboy stands inside the building. Many of the rooms have chimneys for stoves. The peaks of Mt. Nakimushi are in the background.==Date:After 26th year of Meiji, Place:Nikko, Photo:Tamamura Kozaburo, (Credit:Nagasaki University Library/Kyodo News Images) [Cabinet Number11‐7‐0]
