          This is a teahouse in front of Otenmon Gate at Heian Shrine. Lanterns hang near the wisteria trellis. People are relaxing under the wisteria blossoms. A woman holding a parasol on a rickshaw is visible on the right, as well as Daigokuden Hall beyond the gate. The shrine was built in 1895. This may have been taken by the British photographer H. G.                 Zojoji is one of the six temple headquarters of the Jodo Sect and enshrines the tombs of the Tokugawa family. Yushoin is the Buddhist name of the seventh Shogun Tokugawa Ietsugu. The Chokugaku Gate has bronze tiles in eaves of Chinese barge board, and the side is a four-pillared Chinese-style gate with Chidori barge board. It was called Honjido because the Yakushinyorai, the honjibutsu (main Buddha of worship) of Tokugawa Ieyasu, was enshrined there, but at present it is called Yakushido. A dragon is painted on the ceiling, and when one claps, the ceiling echoes, so it is called nakiryu (crying dragon).
