Five-tiered pagoda at Toji Temple

The five-story pagoda of Nin'naji Temple is seen from the west. Tall pine and cherry trees reach into the sky. The road in the foreground connects Niohmon Gate and Kondo Hall. The pagoda was built in 1637 by the third shogun Tokugawa Iemitsu. Each side is approximately 5.5m wide.               The five-story pagoda of Hokanji Temple is viewed facing east. There are many visitors on the temple approach, and a gas light is visible. The pagoda, also called Yasaka Tower, was built in 1440 by Ashikaga Yoshinori and underwent major repair work in 1618. Featuring a tiled roof, it is 40m tall and 5.5m wide. The wisteria blossoms at Kameido Tenjin Shrine are said to be the best in Tokyo, and they were chosen as one of the New Best One Hundred Scenes of Tokyo.
