The thousand Kannon images in Sanjusangendo Temple

This seems to be a southern view of the Senju Kannon sculptures facing south at Rengeo-in (Sanjusangendo). The main hall was rebuilt in 1266. A total of 1001 Senju Kannon (thousand-armed deity of mercy statues) surround, in rows of 10 by 50, the statue of seated Kannon in the centre. Taken by Tamamura Kozaburo.
