Formerly referred to as Ikuta-no-Baba, this was a scenic path lined with plum and cherry trees and stretching for about 870 meters from the shrine to the beach. After the opening of Kobe port in 1868, a foreign settlement was established along the coast, but a railroad line was constructed here in 1874 and the northern area depicted here remained.==Date:unknown, Place:Kobe, Photo:unknown, (Credit:Nagasaki University Library/Kyodo News Images) [Cabinet Number56‐26‐0]
