    This is the settlement on the right bank of the Oura River around 1897. There’s a long row of large wooden western buildings. Rickshaws awaiting customers are lined up along the street with gas lights by the stone harbour walls. Small cargo vessels called sanpan that carry cargo to and from ships anchored off-shore are moored closely together. The pink western style building on the hill in the back is the Steele Memorial Academy.
